Statements made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson (Paris, February 28, 2014)

 

Visit by Mr. Laurent Fabius, together with his German counterpart, to Moldova and Georgia (March 3 to 4, 2014)

Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his German counterpart, Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will conduct a joint visit to Chisinau and Tbilisi from March 3 to 4.

In Chisinau, Mr. Fabius and Mr. Steinmeier will be received by the president of the Republic of Moldova and will have meetings with several ministers, including the minister of foreign affairs, as well as with the political leaders from the coalition government and the opposition. They will also have exchanges with students from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.  

In Tbilisi, the two ministers will be received by the president of the Republic of Georgia and will have meetings with the prime minister, the minister of foreign affairs, the state minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the speaker of Parliament and the leader of the opposition. They will also meet with students from Tbilisi State University.

France and Germany will support the signing in both countries, by the end of August, of association agreements between the European Union and these two countries. These agreements were initialed in Vilnius on November 29, 2013, at the Eastern Partnership Summit.
