Burundi – Meeting between Mr. Laurent Fabius and Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza, President of the Republic of Burundi (Paris, June 4, 2014)
Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development met today with Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza, President of the Republic of Burundi.
Mr. Fabius and Mr. Nkurunziza discussed key regional and African issues, notably Somalia and the Central African Republic, where Burundian soldiers are making a significant contribution to peacekeeping, as well as stability in the Great Lakes region.
Their discussions also focused on all aspects of our bilateral relations, including in particular our priorities for cooperation in the areas of development, education and youth, and on the prospects for strengthening our trade.
Mr. Laurent Fabius underscored the need to ensure that the 2015 elections are conducted in an atmosphere of calm in order to guarantee the country’s stability.
