Golan Heights – Kidnapping of blue helmets
France condemns the detention by armed groups of 43 Fijian blue helmets deployed within the framework of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force on the Golan Heights (UNDOF), as well as the surrounding of Filipino blue helmets.
We call for the immediate release of the kidnapped blue helmets and for the cessation of these unacceptable acts.
France expresses its wholehearted solidarity with the authorities of Fiji and the Philippines, whose involvement in the peacekeeping operations is essential.
France utterly condemns the barbaric and appalling murder of 4 people in the Sinai, for which a terrorist group has claimed responsibility. It extends its condolences to the victims’ families and expresses its solidarity with the Egyptian people.
It stands alongside the Egyptian authorities in their fight against terrorism.
