Economic diplomacy in Ethiopia – Web documentary

After Mexico, Turkmenistan and Japan, the 4th instalment of our audio slide show series devoted to economic diplomacy produced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development is now online.

Ethiopia is the second most populous country on the African continent and offers significant economic opportunities. France operates in several sectors of this market (construction, environment, agri-food, etc.).

This photo and audio narrative by Frédéric de La Mure reflects the diversity of French investment in this country in the heart of the Horn of Africa.

Algerian hostages kidnapped in Mali

France welcomes the release of two Algerian hostages, Mourad Ghessas and Kaddour Miloudi, held captive in Mali since April 6, 2012.

It extends its condolences to the families of the two other Algerian hostages, Boualem Saies and Tahar Touati, whose deaths have unfortunately just been confirmed.

France reaffirms its support for Algeria and the countries in the region in the fight against terrorism.

Cultural network update - Basel International Theater Festival (August 27 to September 7, 2014)

France, together with Canada, has been invited to participate in the Basel International Theater Festival which is taking place from August 27 to September 7, 2014, with the support of the Institut français and the Embassy of France in Switzerland.

The Basel festival, which is an international showcase for contemporary creation in the performing arts field, brings together, every year, nearly 200 performing arts professionals from several countries for performances and numerous events throughout the city.

Audiences can notably experience “D’après une histoire vraie” by French choreographer Christian Rizzo. The public is also invited to participate in a performance by a collective of artists (“boijeot.renault.turon”), which will present a lively journey through the heart of the city and amongst its residents.
