Guinea and Senegal – Visit by Ms. Annick Girardin

Ms. Annick Girardin, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie, will today visit Senegal, and then Guinea on Saturday.

In Senegal, Ms. Girardin will participate in preparations for the 15th Francophonie Summit. She will also sign several French Development Agency financing agreements on electrification, drinking water and support for decentralization and public finance. Meetings are scheduled with the president and the prime minister.

In Guinea, Ms. Girardin will review the situation relating to the Ebola epidemic and reaffirm France’s support for the local authorities, field workers and healthcare professionals. The minister of state will visit healthcare facilities, and view the healthcare arrangements introduced at Conakry Airport, in the presence of Senior UN Coordinator David Nabarro. She will also meet with representatives of the French community.

Ukraine

In your view, are the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk Republics terrorist organizations?

Our priority and that of the international community is the implementation of the ceasefire and the peace plan in Ukraine. We call on all parties to comply with these agreements.

The crisis in eastern Ukraine can only be resolved through political means.

France would like to support these efforts, notably in the so-called Normandy format.
