China – Meeting between Mr. Laurent Fabius and Mr. Ma Kai, Chinese Vice Premier (Paris, September 16, 2014)

Mr. Laurent Fabius received Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai on September 16 on the occasion of the second session of the high-level economic and financial dialogue between France and China.

Mr. Fabius and Mr. Ma Kai reaffirmed their shared desire to restore, from the top down, balance in the trade relations between our two countries, to give greater impetus to Chinese investment in France and to develop industrial partnerships, including in third countries.

Mr. Laurent Fabius notably welcomed the decision to accept ADPI’s proposal for the design of Beijing’s new airport.

Mr. Laurent Fabius and Mr. Ma Kai reaffirmed the priority given by China and France to the fight against climate change and the willingness of both countries to prepare together for the 2015 Paris Climate Conference.


China – First session of the high-level dialogue between France and China on human exchanges (Paris, September 18, 2014)

As agreed upon during President Xi Jinping’s state visit to France in March 2014, the high-level dialogue between France and China on human exchanges will take place for the first time in Paris on September 18. It will be co-chaired by Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and by Ms. Liu Yandong, Chinese Vice Premier.

This dialogue aims to encourage exchanges between our two countries in the areas of education, science, culture, sport and decentralized cooperation.

It will notably make it possible to develop our cooperation in the tourism and audiovisual sectors, to promote French cultural industries and facilitate Chinese student mobility in France and French student mobility in China.


Cultural network update – The “Minds in Migration” series of debates (New York, September 22, 2014 - April 24, 2015)

The Embassy of France in the United States and the Collège international de philosophie will host, from September 22, 2014 to April 24, 2015, a series of debates entitled “Minds in Migration,” with the support of the Institut français.

The debates will be based on a selection of works translated from French and will focus on contemporary issues: reconciliation, self-censorship, the environment, capitalism, interreligious dialogue, etc. Philosophers, writers, artists, social and political scientists, translators, journalists and movie directors will take part in the discussions.

The second part of this program featuring the “Night of Philosophers,” will take place on April 24, 2015, in New York.
