Economic diplomacy - Meeting between Laurent Fabius and Mohed Altrad, President and CEO of Altrad Group (July 15, 2015)

Laurent Fabius will this afternoon receive Mohed Altrad, President and CEO of Altrad Group, who was awarded, on June 6, the World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2015 prize, presented by Ernst & Young and L’Express.

This award recognizes the career of this entrepreneur who specializes in the supply of equipment for construction and public works; he is the first French citizen to receive this award.

Mr. Fabius and Mr. Altrad will notably discuss the internationalization of French businesses.



Albania - Visit by Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European Affairs (July 14 and 15, 2015)

Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European Affairs, has paid a visit to Tirana. He was received by President of the Republic of Albania Bujar Nishani and Prime Minister Edi Rama. He met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati and European Integration Minister Klajda Gjosha, as well as with Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta.

Mr. Désir and his interlocutors worked on strengthening our bilateral relations and our cultural and economic exchanges. They discussed the development of relations between Albania and the EU as well as the implementation of priority reforms requested by the EU. They took stock of the strengthening of regional cooperation in the Western Balkans.



Colombia - Agreement between the Colombian authorities and the FARC (Havana, July 12, 2015)

France welcomes the agreement reached in Havana on July 12 between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC-EP).

This represents a significant step forward toward the conclusion of a final, just and lasting agreement for all Colombians.

During his visit to Colombia in 2013, Laurent Fabius stressed that France stood alongside Colombia in its efforts to reach an agreement. As Prime Minister Manuel Valls reaffirmed during his meeting with President Santos in Bogota on June 25, France stands ready to do its part to facilitate the restoration of civil peace, following a conflict that has lasted more than 60 years.



Cameroon - Attacks in Fotokol (July 12 to 13, 2015)

France condemns the attacks that took place on July 12 and 13 in Fotokol in the extreme north of Cameroon, which killed about 20 people.

We extend our condolences to the victims’ families and assure the Cameroonian authorities and people of our solidarity.

France welcomes the determined efforts of the states of the Lake Chad region, especially Cameroon, to combat terrorism. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them.
