Cambodia – Meeting between Laurent Fabius and Prime Minister Hun Sen (Paris - October 26, 2015)

Laurent Fabius will today receive Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

They will take stock of our main bilateral cooperation projects and the Paris Climate Conference.

The relations between our two countries are very close. France is the second largest bilateral donor to Cambodia in terms of development assistance. We also work closely together in the cultural sphere, notably in order to preserve the richness of Cambodia's heritage.

Bangladesh – Attack in Dakha (October 24, 2015)

France condemns the attack carried out on October 24 in Dhaka, which killed at least one person and injured several dozen others.

We extend our condolences to the victims' families.

France assures Bangladesh of its solidarity in the fight against terrorism.

Climate / Desertification – Twelfth Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (Ankara - October 12 to 24, 2015)

France welcomes the results of the twelfth Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, which took place in Ankara from October 12 to 24.

This meeting confirms the importance of this instrument in achieving the sustainable development goals adopted in New York in September. During the conference, the states underscored the key role of land and soil in responding to the three-fold challenge of food security, adaptation to climate disruption and the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions. They called for the use of drought early warning systems in order to protect the most vulnerable populations.

During the Paris Climate Conference, France will launch two initiatives to support these efforts: the "4 for 1000: soil for food security and climate" initiative, aimed at developing agricultural research in order to improve the stocks of soil organic matter; and the "CREWS" initiative, which aims to provide all poor and vulnerable countries with systems for preventing natural disasters by 2020.

United States / Scientific and cultural cooperation – Opening of the 6th edition of the France-Atlanta Innovation Forum (October 27, 2015)

The 6th edition of the France-Atlanta Innovation Forum will take place in Atlanta from October 27 to November 9.

A large number of multi-disciplinary events highlighting French innovation will be open to the American public; representatives of the Ecole nationale des arts et métiers ParisTech and the Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Commission (CEA-Liten) will notably attend these events.

The forum, which will attract approximately 4,000 people and is being organized thanks to the mobilization of the Consulate General of France in Atlanta, will this year showcase French expertise in the fight against climate disruption.
