Yemen – Attack in Sana (January 7, 2015)

France condemns the attack that killed dozens of people in downtown Sana this morning. It extends its condolences to the victims’ families and expresses its sympathy with the injured.

We reaffirm our wholehearted support for the Yemeni authorities and people in their fight against terrorism and call on all parties to reject all forms of violence.


Turkey – Attack in Istanbul (January 7, 2015)

France condemns the attack carried out on January 6 against a police station in Sultanahmet in Istanbul, which claimed the life of a police officer.

It extends its condolences to the victim’s family and assures the Turkish authorities and people of its solidarity in the fight against all forms of terrorism.


Sudan – Darfur – Attacks against the United Nations/African Union Mission in Darfur (January 6, 2015)

France condemns the attacks targeted against the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) on January 6.

We reiterate our support for UNAMID and reaffirm that peacekeepers are authorized to use force when acting in self-defense and in order to implement their mandate to protect civilians. More than 500,000 people fled the fighting in Sudan in 2014.

We call on the Sudanese authorities to prosecute those responsible for these attacks and to fully cooperate with UNAMID in its efforts to implement its mandate.
