Tourism – Mr. Laurent Fabius’s participation in the World Hospitality and Food Service Event (Lyon, January 24, 2015)
Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will attend the World Hospitality and Food Service Event in Lyon on January 24.
This trade show has been taking place every two years for the last 30 years; this year it will bring together 2,980 exhibitors and French and international brands and should attract almost 200,000 professionals from all over the world.
On this occasion, Mr. Laurent Fabius will underscore the strategic importance of the tourism and agri-food sectors for employment and France’s economic recovery. He will present the measures undertaken since the tourism conferences in June to promote gastronomy, French brands and destinations, and improve the range of services and products available in order to better respond to tourists’ expectations.
Tourism – Launch of a center of excellence devoted to wine tourism in Champagne by Mr. Matthias Fekl (Marne, January 23, 2015)
Mr. Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, will pay a visit to Epernay and Aÿ-en-Champagne to launch a center of excellence devoted to wine tourism.
This new center of excellence will be headed by Mr. Michel Bernard, wine-grower and owner of Château Beauchêne (Vaucluse), Honorary Chairman of Inter-Rhône and Chairman of the Wine Tourism Group within Atout France.
During his visit, Mr. Fekl will meet with tourism professionals. In accordance with the recommendations of the tourism conferences held in June 2014, the goal is to strengthen the attractiveness of France to tourists by developing flagship brands and promising initiatives throughout France.

Somalia – Attack in Mogadishu (January 22, 2015)
France condemns the attack carried out on January 22 in Mogadishu, which killed 5 Somali people.
We extend our condolences to the victims’ families and assure the Somali authorities and people of our solidarity. The perpetrators of this barbaric act must be brought to justice.
France commends the efforts of the Somali army and security services, as well as that of the African Union Mission in Somalia, to restore peace and security. Together with its partners, it stands alongside the Federal Government of Somalia in its fight against terrorism.
Yemen – Resignations of President Hadi and Prime Minister Baha
France deplores the forced resignations of President Hadi and Prime Minister Khaled Baha.
It calls for the immediate withdrawal of all militia groups from San'a and for these groups to relinquish control of public buildings.
It calls for national unity, the continuity of the institutions, the formation of a national unity government and the continuation of the political transition process, within the framework of the Gulf Initiative and the conclusions of the National Dialogue Conference.
