Economic diplomacy - Creation of a strategic export committee by Mr. Matthias Fekl (Paris, March 23, 2015)

Mr. Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, will launch the “strategic export committee” this afternoon.

This committee, which brings together key private and public actors responsible for the internationalization of companies, will enable them to coordinate their efforts more effectively, including with the regions.

The committee will notably make recommendations on guiding the new “Business France” agency’s export-related support. The strategic export committee will also monitor the effective implementation of the action plan for the internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises released on March 11 at the first forum on this issue at the Quai d'Orsay.

Turkey – Consultations between the secretary-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development and his counterpart (Ankara, March 24, 2015)

Mr. Christian Masset, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will be received by his Turkish counterpart, Mr. Feridun Sinirlioglu, tomorrow in Ankara. During these consultations, the two secretary-generals will take stock of the implementation of the action plan signed in Paris on October 10 during the first meeting of the Strategic Framework for Cooperation between Turkey and France chaired by Mr. Laurent Fabius and his Turkish counterpart.

The two secretary-generals will discuss the strengthening of our economic and commercial exchanges in order to achieve the goal of €20 billion set by the heads of state and government. They will also discuss our cooperation in the areas of energy, education, higher education and culture.

They will discuss key international issues, especially the Iraqi and Syrian crises, as well as the situation in Ukraine. Lastly, Mr. Masset and his counterpart, whose country holds the presidency of the G20 this year, will discuss the fight against climate disruption and preparations for the 2015 Paris Climate Conference.

 


Environment – Climate – World Water Day (March 22, 2015)

On the occasion of World Water Day 2015 devoted to “water and sustainable development,” France reaffirms that, as underscored by the most recent United Nations World Water Development Report, if nothing changes, the planet will face a 40% global water deficit by 2030.

In order to address the risks of flooding and drought and the effects of climate change on the water cycle, France is fully mobilized to:

The French Development Agency commits on average €700 million per year to water and sanitation operations in the most vulnerable countries.

 


United Arab Emirates – France’s participation in the 12th edition of the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD) (March 24 to 26, 2015)

France will participate in the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD) from March 24 to 26. This conference, organized under the patronage of the emir of Dubai, will bring together the main UN agencies, governmental and non-governmental organizations, foundations, academics, media outlets, and innovative companies operating in the humanitarian field.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development’s crisis and support center will host, for the first time, non-governmental organizations (Libraries Without Borders, Electricians Without Borders, Humaniterra, Islamic Relief France, Secours populaire, Triangle Génération Humanitaire) and French companies (Airbus Helicopters, GDF SUEZ Corporate Foundation, Losberger, Thales) at the French pavilion.

They will therefore be able to present their innovations in the humanitarian field, promote French expertise to major donors and strengthen their cooperation with new humanitarian actors, notably in the Gulf States.
