Iran – Firing of a ballistic missile (January 31, 2017)

I would like to remind you of the remarks made by Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, today in Tehran during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart.

"France has repeatedly expressed its concern regarding the continued ballistic tests that are contrary to the spirit of resolution 2231. They are taking place in a difficult regional context and interfere with the confidence-building process, introduced by the Vienna agreement. I discussed this issue with my Iranian interlocutors."

Turkey – Visit by Matthias Fekl (January 31, 2017)

Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, is conducting a visit to Istanbul today at the invitation of Nihat Zeybekci, with whom he co-chairs the France-Turkey Joint Economic Committee.

Matthias Fekl will reaffirm the goal set by the French and Turkish heads of state to achieve an annual trade volume of €20 billion and will discuss the vitality of the 400 French firms operating in Turkey. Turkey is currently our 3rd largest trading partner outside of the EU.

Following Jean-Marc Ayrault's visit to Turkey on October 23 and 24, 2016, Matthias Fekl will also take stock of our bilateral relations. He will reaffirm our solidarity with Turkey in the face of terrorism. He will underscore the importance of ensuring respect for fundamental freedoms and the rule of law.

During his visit, Matthias Fekl will meet with representatives of the French community in Turkey.
