Condolences / Condoléances

Having lived and studied in France I am saddened by the recent attacks. My heart goes out to all the French people and especially those who have lost loved ones. My heart is one with the French people. I consider it my home away from home. With love and unwavering support.
Derek P.

It is heartbreaking to see France suffer from these repeated attacks. Every time that I have traveled to France, I have seen the kindness and spirit of the French. May you not let these attacks change you! I wish a speedy recovery to those still injured.
Brooke D.

I am truly sorry for the fight all French citizens have been having to go through. It’s impossible to ever measure up the amount of loss and hurt that one may go through. A country should never have to battle through so much loss. I send my prayers to all those who were affected, as well as the families. You are in our hearts.
Pamela P.

My prayers go out to and for the people of France and the suffering that has occurred in these past months.
Laura D.

The attack on the innocents of Nice is absolutely disgusting. I had hoped the culprits would be captured alive to face justice, but of course the cowards chose not to face France’s wrath.
I have long since studied France (my family is of French origin, moving to America in the 1760’s), and I have great respect for your country. I am actually in the middle of researching attending college in France, as well as moving there to become a citizen.
Warm Regards, and my heart goes out to the victims of this cowardly attack on Nice.
Thomas E.

I am deeply sorry about the incident and encourage all residents of Nice and entire France not to lose their vigilance and remain cautious and united in fighting foreign influence and sabotages. Please accept my sincere condolences.

It was Bastille Day, we were watching the Paris Celebration on the French Channel 341. It was with great proud, since my Father was a Cavalerie Officer, also in charge of the Cavalerie Musique School in Saumur. Few hours later,I could not believe with terror what was appening in Nice. We visited Nice twice, we stayed at the Negressco. I had a very special memory of the beauty of the Promenade des Anglais. Now my soul is in great pain for the people who are left with such attrocities and to the pain and souffrance that the survivors who left with a long recovery. I will pray each day with the help of God,I hope that he will be your salvation.
Stay strong , I am thinking of you and wich that I could hold you in my arms to consol you.

To all of the families & friends of the victims, to all of the people of Nice and France, very saddened by this latest atrocity in France. Terrorism is and will always be considered a great abuse and a serious violation of the right to life I send my deepest condolences & sympathy ! With love & prayers.
Commissary Dr. Solomon Avasilcai - President of International Organization of Human Rights (IOHR)

Issa Nissa
Vive la France
Claude Girault, né à Nice - Conseiller consulaire

As these terrible events unfold I and my family pray for France and its leaders to find the strength and resolve to overcome the scourge of terrorism. Having spent Christmas holidays in Nice a few years ago with my family, we as a family were horrified to see the images of the beautiful promenade des Anglais turned into a graveyard. God Bless France!

In the midst of such a tragedy I must believe that something good will come from this otherwise I would be in a state of hopelessness and indeed love drives out the hate! God’s strength, comfort and healing to those hurting from such a sudden trauma.
Tinnyse J.

My heart is broken along with yours’. Stay strong,
Dawn S.

We are very saddened by this latest atrocity in France. The continuance of these cowardly acts against innocent people is heinous. Our hearts and prayers are with you in this difficult period.
Lavonne L.

  Soyez forte, nos amis.
Brigid S.

Tony D. F.

A message of loving kindness to all the French people, May you all be happy well and peaceful, May no harm come to you, May no difficulty come to you, May all beings be happy well and peaceful. I also remember my great stepmother Solange from Bellac who during the first World War met my great grandfather Harold Stearns and took such fine care during the war. The French people during the 2nd world war protected my grandfather Harold Stearns jr. as he worked in the OSS and hid among the French villages. Without their care and help I might have lost my grandfather so I feel that if their is any comfort we can offer it reflects the deep connection my family has had through 2 World wars.
With deepest compassion, Susan S.

Your Excellency, Embassy Staff in Washington, President and dear people of France,
Words cannot describe our profound sadness at the attack in Nice and at all that France has suffered in the past year. There is a deep and special bond between the United States and France, our very first friend. As a scholar of history, I have had priceless opportunities to study in France and to live with and learn from the French people, in Paris, Rouen, Le Havre, Metz, Chartres, Aix, and Nice. I remember with deep affection the warmth and kindness of the people toward me. No student of history can fail to be moved by France’s courage and strength or to see how she has endured and prevailed. In the next days and weeks, and long after the media has gone, we shall be thinking of the people of France. We grieve with you for loved ones. We pray for the families, for the injured, and for all who are hurting. Please accept our heartfelt condolences and profound solidarity. We love you and stand with you.
Celeste H. and family

On behalf of the Finnish Honorary Consulate in Seattle I want to express our deepest sadness and condolences for the city and citizens of Nice, the country of France and all people affected by these despicable acts of violence against families celebrating the Bastille Day 2016. It is heart wrenching how much France, a country standing for freedom, has been attacked this year. May peace win.
Kristiina Hiukka - Honorary Vice Consul of Finland in Washington State

Bonjour. Je suis très désolée. I am so very sorry about the attack in Nice. I was in Paris and Normandy last month and I will return to France as soon as I can. You have the strong support of millions of us Americans, as you know. We will always stand behind - and beside - you. J’aime la france!!

Dear Ambassador and all French Citizens,
Please accept our family’s most sincere sympathy on the Bastille Day terrorist attack in Nice. Forgive my very limited ability to speak French, but I remembered these words for those who were lost: hommes, femmes, enfants, brothers and sisters in our larger human family, innocents all. May God welcome each precious soul with an angelic choir and tender love. May all those injured have the best of medical and nursing care to recover. May all the families of so many nationalities who are mourning a loved one be comforted by God’s angels and by all of us on Earth who will honor the memory of the ones who were lost yesterday.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Mr. And Mrs. Steven G. K., Mr. Evan K. and Ms. Teresa K.

VIVE LA FRANCE!!!

It was with great shock and horror that I received the news of the most recent attack on the people of our best and oldest ally, the Republic of France.
I, and the rest of the common American citizens, weep for your losses and feel nothing but contempt for the uncivilized cowards who would commit such a most heinous crime.
Those of us who belong to the civilized world must stand together and end these assaults on the innocent; until the message is brought home most forcefully to every madrassa, every state harboring terrorists, every radicalized rogue- of whatever religion- that attacks on the civilian population by unaffiliated criminals will not be tolerated and the penalty is death, we will all suffer as France suffers now.
I pray for your victims, for the survivors, for the government of France, and for all of us with barbarians at our gates...
Bless the people of France, and grant you peace and relief from fear.
The citizens of America stand with our great friends and allies. Viva La France!
Raymond O.

  My profound condolences.
I would like to offer my sincere regrets for the tragic attack on France and on people in Nice on Bastille Day 2016. I have driven and walked along Le Promenade des Anglais a number of times and am saddened that this beautiful location and celebratory event of life and freedom should be targeted by a horrific criminal action.
Sincerely,
Alan S.

Our prayer go out to all the families who have lost loved ones in this horrific tragedy! May you be comforted in the fact that the entire world mourns with you! We are so very sad for you all...
Kathy B.

I wish that I could express my sympathies to you in French but my knowledge of your language is not good enough to convey the depth of my feelings. My family have spent many happy holidays in the South of France and am devastated that someone could carry out such an horrific act on your National Day. My country may have voted to leave the EU, but we stand solidly with you at this time. You will always have our hearts and out prayers.
Patricia E.

We in the USA grieve with you. We’re so very sorry that another senseless act of violence has taken loved ones. Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. Peace be with you.

As another American who loves France, I am saddened by reports of the newest terrorist tragedy in France, this time in Nice. I have spent much time in your wonderful country and take this attack, and all attacks on the French people, very personally.
Sincerely,

My heart is heavy today. The people of France are beautiful and strong. You will rise above this tragedy and be stronger than ever. I send you my love and my prayers.

I am so shocked and sorry, mostly upset over the attacks that France has suffered in recent months, not to mention other countries in Europe.
This most recent attack is outrageous and grotesque in it’s complete inhumanity.
Before this incident my family was dealing with health issues and now I’m so torn between attending a vigil nearby if any and my normal day to day responsibilities.
France has been a great ally to the United States of America and this is so upsetting. just emotional and not enough comprehension. This past Monday I visited the National Shrine and their mini Grotto of Lourdes for the Virgin Mary. There are always so many candles lit there. I don’t think they can make any more available to have lit at a time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with France and other victims of such horrific events.
Saint Lucy and Saint Blaise have been prominent in unexpected ways lately so remember the Community of Saints and we are all called to be Saints.
Best wishes
Ben

We are deeply saddened by the suffering of the terror victims in France and elsewhere. It is heartbreaking to see the photo of a small child covered with a cloth, with her doll lying beside her in the street. Praying that God will comfort those who mourn and heal those injured.

I’m actually in tears while writing these few lines and I feel both sadness and anger at the same time. This happened in Nice but it could have happened everywhere else. This must end, we cannot continue to be random targets for these "less-than-beasts" criminals and I hope that soon we all will work together in "terminating" this nonsense fanatic activity. My thoughts and prayers to the victim of Nice, to the French people and to the great country of France. Vive la France!
Roberto

May the Blessed Virgin comfort the People of France and the families of the victims. My deepest condolences.
Sean S. H.

As USA’s oldest ally, and in general, myself and multitudes of U.S. citizens are appalled and truly saddened by the string of hateful, barbaric attacks on the innocent citizens of your great country. We are behind you in your struggle to root out and contain such ruthless and sociopathic behavior. The people who carry out such mindless attacks hate, and are antithetical to what your country stands for: liberty, equality, fraternity.
Vive la France!
William D. B.

In the expression of sorrow and disbelief, I wish to offer heartfelt condolences to the people of French Republic, and especially to the citizens of Nice at the sad moment of our UN-civilization! My heart is with all of you.

All my condolences. I am very sad and feel helpless as always when these tragic events take place. With Nice, the feeling is even more painful because as a former Mauritanian student in France, lots of people I know studied in Nice, some met their current spouses their and all still mention with nostalgia beautiful engaging heartfelt stories about their life in Nice with very often in the background la Promenade des Anglais.
Mariem B.

  THE USA STANDS WITH FRANCE
Very upsetting about the attack yesterday. Hang in there we must defeat ISIS and their hate for others
Rhonda T.

I am beyond saddened, My birthday is Bastille Day and am not French but have always felt a connection. My condolences to all of France. Today I have felt severe anger. Our politicians really need to step up and do something drastic! This has to stop. It’s no way to live in this beautiful world.

Kathleen M.
