The Department of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Energy and Transportation (ESDET) represents the Ministry of Territorial Equality and Housing as well as the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy. It is responsible for developing cooperation and information-sharing between the French and American authorities in the domains of climate change, biodiversity, energy, technology, transportation—whether aerial, maritime or land-based—town planning and housing. Its mission is to participate in diplomatic initiatives, follow American legislative and regulatory developments in these sectors and to develop relationships with the NGOs and Think Tanks.
Within the Embassy, The EDDET Department leads a task force on climate change, involving the different departments interested in those topics, with a view to assisting the advancement of climate negotiations.
