Paris, September 3, 2014
The French President convened a meeting of the Select Defence Council on 3 September to take stock of the situation in Iraq and review all the measures that can be taken to mobilize the international community to combat Islamic State and the threat it poses to the entire region and beyond.
To that end, the Head of State emphasized the need for a political, humanitarian and, if necessary, military response in accordance with international law. France intends to continue to work closely with all of its partners to ensure that this response is coordinated across all areas and is commensurate with a now serious global threat. (…)./.
