Iran/nuclear programme

Published on April 7, 2015
Communiqué issued by the Presidency of the Republic
Paris, April 2, 2015

Discussions between the P5+1 and Iran have just concluded with an agreement in principle on the parameters of a lasting resolution of the issues raised by the Iranian nuclear programme.

President Hollande, who has just spoken about this agreement with President Obama, applauds the work accomplished by the foreign ministers and their commitment throughout the process, as well as the bases for the agreement that were found.

Its specific means of implementation must be defined by 30 June. France will ensure, as it always has done in conjunction with its partners, that they are established with a view to reaching a credible, verifiable agreement that provides assurances to the international community that Iran will not be in a position to obtain nuclear weapons.

The sanctions that are lifted can be reinstated if the agreement is not implemented./.
