Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
Paris, July 17, 2015
Mme Annick Girardin, Minister of State for Development and Francophony, welcomes the results of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, published on 16 July.
The figures show a very encouraging rise in the number of AIDS patients receiving treatment as a result of Global Fund programmes: 8.1 million people benefiting from it at the end of June 2015, i.e. 11% more than six months ago. The Global Fund is helping pay the cost of caring for more than half of AIDS patients who are receiving antiretroviral therapy, and strengthen health systems.
France is the second-largest contributor to the fund’s total budget./.
