Turkey/telephone conversation between M. François Hollande, President of the Republic, and his Turkish counterpart
Paris, July 27, 2015
The French President spoke on the telephone to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Following the bloody attack in Suruç on 20 July, the two presidents reaffirmed their determination to combat all forms of terrorism and, as they had agreed in their conversation on 21 July, strengthen cooperation between France and Turkey in this area.
The two presidents also took stock of the situation in Syria. The French President thanked his Turkish counterpart for the robust action being conducted against Daesh [ISIL] and for strengthening Turkey’s engagement alongside the coalition.
In this context, the French President and President Erdoğan invite those Syrian opposition forces which can contribute to the political transition to deepen their dialogue, to help create a free and united Syria./.
