IRAN

We remain very attentive to the case of our compatriot, Stéphane Lherbier, who has been imprisoned in Iran for seven months. Our embassy in Teheran paid him another consular visit on June 19. We are in permanent contact with Mr. Lherbier’s family.

Mr. Lherbier is still waiting for consideration of the petitions for clemency he has submitted to the highest Iranian authorities.

We remain very mobilized in this matter and expect answers from the Iranian authorities. We seize the opportunity of every contact with them to ask for an act of clemency for our compatriot and Donald Klein, both of whom were given an excessively severe sentence in relation to the charges against them.
