Q - Do you have any comment on the release, announced for Friday, of hostages in the hands of Touareg rebels in northern Mali?
Like you we’ve noted the announcement. If their release is confirmed, it would undoubtedly be a positive element.
Q - Have you made a formal request for the members of Zoë’s Ark to be transferred to a French prison?
As I said yesterday, the request for transfer is being made in the context of the mutual judicial assistance agreement between France and Chad. I can confirm that such a demand will be sent to the Chadian authorities during the day.
Q - The mother of a French-Palestinian man (Salah Hammouri) held in Israel has criticized the Quai d’Orsay’s inaction in Le Monde. Your comment?
Our diplomatic and consular authorities in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are following Salah Hammouri’s situation with the utmost attention. They are providing him with every assistance in the context of consular protection. The minister has interceded with the Israeli authorities several times so that Mr. Hammouri, who has been held since 2005, might have the benefit of the trial he’s entitled to without further delay.
Q - Do you support the Afghan authorities in the matter of the two diplomats, from the UN and European Union, accused of having contacts with the Taliban?
We are conferring with our European partners on this matter.
