Statements made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson (Paris, October 24, 2013)

First session of the French-Ghanaian political dialogue (October 24, 2013)

Ms. Emmanuelle d'Achon, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will today receive a Ghanaian delegation led by Mr. Leslie Kojo Christian, Ghana’s Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs, for the first session of the French-Ghanaian political dialogue.

This political dialogue falls within the framework of the new momentum in our bilateral relationship, following President Mahama’s visit to France in May and Mr. Laurent Fabius’s meeting with his counterpart, Ms. Hannah Tetteh, on October 10 in Paris.

The discussions will focus on the major regional and African issues, notably the situation in Mali, the Central African Republic, Côte d'Ivoire and Nigeria. Global issues related to peacekeeping, the fight against climate change and la Francophonie will also be raised.

Lastly, this meeting will provide an opportunity to review the prospects for strengthening our bilateral relations, particularly in the economic field and in terms of supporting Ghana’s development.
