Colombia – Peace negotiations (November 6, 2013)

France welcomes the announcement yesterday in Havana of a new agreement reached in the peace negotiations between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. This text marks an important step forward and notably provides - following the conclusion of a final agreement - for measures to ensure the political participation of the former guerillas.

France continues to lend its support to the entire peace process. It hopes that the negotiations will make swift progress on the three other proposed agenda points (ending the armed conflict, drug trafficking, victims’ rights) in order to allow the country to emerge from a conflict for which the Colombian people have been paying a heavy toll for more than 40 years.
