Mission of the ambassador for human rights to Israel and the Palestinian Territories (January 27 to 30)

Ms. Patrizianna Sparacino-Thiellay, Ambassador for Human Rights, notably responsible for the international dimension of the Holocaust, spoliations and the duty to remember, will attend the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust on January 27 in Israel.

She will also travel to the Palestinian Territories - to Gaza, East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

This visit will provide an opportunity to discuss the human rights situation in Israel and in the Palestinian Territories with the local authorities and various civil society representatives.

 

Egypt – Attack on a checkpoint in Beni Suef

France condemns the attack on a checkpoint in Beni Suef this morning which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries.

We express our solidarity and condolences to the victims’ families and friends.

France will continue to stand alongside the Egyptian people during this difficult time.

 

United States – Texas – Execution of a Mexican citizen deprived of consular protection

France condemns the execution in Texas of Mexican citizen, Edgar Tamayo Arias.

France reaffirms its firm and constant opposition to the death penalty throughout the world. This is a position that we defend together with all our EU partners in all countries of the world.

Our diplomatic network is fully committed to this priority, wherever the death penalty continues to be applied. As an observer member of the Organization of American States, France is engaged in promoting the abolition of the death penalty on the American continent.
