Lebanon – Attack on the army and domestic security forces

France condemns the attacks on the Lebanese army and internal security forces in Arsal on August 2, which resulted in the death or disappearance of at least 10 troops.

We extend our condolences to the victims’ families.

We reiterate our support for Lebanon, its authorities and its institutions, beginning with the Lebanese army, which is fighting courageously to preserve peace, stability and Lebanon’s territorial integrity.

 

China - Earthquake (August 3)

We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of several hundred people in Sunday’s earthquake in Yunnan province.

In these tragic circumstances, France extends its condolences to the victims’ families and offers its solidarity to the Chinese people and authorities.

 

Somalia – Murder of lawmaker Sheikh Adan Madeer (August 1)

France condemns the murder of lawmaker Sheikh Adan Madeer on August 1 in Mogadishu.

We offer our sympathy to his family and assure the Somali people of our support.

This crime, like those that preceded it, must not go unpunished.

France reiterates its support for the Somali Federal Government in its fight against terrorism.

 

Armenia - Azerbaijan – Violent incidents in Nagorno-Karabakh

France is concerned by the upsurge in violence along the line of demarcation between Nagorno-Karabakh and the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, which has left several dead in recent days.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can only be resolved by negotiations. France calls on all the parties to abide by the cease-fire and to take immediate measures to ease tensions and avoid new incidents.
