Uzbekistan – Meeting between Mr. Laurent Fabius and Mr. Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister of Foreign Affairs (Paris, November 7, 2014)

Mr. Laurent Fabius received his Uzbek counterpart, Mr. Abdulaziz Kamilov, this morning.

This meeting is part of France’s regular political dialogue with Uzbekistan. Mr. Laurent Fabius visited Tashkent on March 2, 2013.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss all aspects of our bilateral cooperation and the prospects for strengthening France’s economic presence in Uzbekistan. The two ministers also reviewed key regional issues, notably the situation in Syria and Iraq.

Algeria – Mr. Laurent Fabius’s visit (November 10, 2014)

Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will travel to Oran and Algiers on November 10 in order to participate in the inauguration of the Renault plant in Oued Tlelat and co-chair, together with Mr. Emmanuel Macron, Minister of the Economy, Industry and the Digital Sector, the second French-Algerian Joint Economic Committee.

This visit reflects the strong and trusting strategic partnership that we have developed with Algeria. It relates to bilateral relations as well as our cooperation on regional issues, for example with respect to Mali and Libya.

Our ambition today is to strengthen our economic partnership, notably by fostering French-Algerian industrial projects. During his visit, Mr. Laurent Fabius will notably underscore our four priorities in this area: the development of infrastructure and transport, the promotion of projects to build new cities based on international standards, the development of cooperation in the field of tourism, and energy innovation. Several French companies and operators will accompany the ministers to that end.
