Development - International Solidarity Week (November 15 to 23, 2014) – Visits by Ms. Girardin across France

Ms. Annick Girardin, Minister of State for Development and Francophony, is making a series of visits across France. These visits began on Saturday, November 15 and will continue until the end of the week and will notably include the Centre region, Brittany, Mayenne, Gironde and Côte d'Or.

These visits are taking place on the occasion of International Solidarity Week, an event that brings together almost 500,000 people every year thanks to the efforts of 14,000 volunteers.

During this international solidarity “tour de France,” Ms. Annick Girardin will present the government’s development assistance priorities. She will have a number of exchanges with associations and actors who support all aspects of development at the local level: women’s rights, solidarity-based agriculture, innovation, the social and solidarity economy and health.

Economic diplomacy – Mr. Mathias Fekl’s participation in the second French-Ethiopian Business Forum (Paris, November 17, 2014)

Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael, Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Economy and Finance, and Mr. Mathias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, opened the second French-Ethiopian Business Forum this morning. With 85 million inhabitants, Ethiopia is the second most populated country on the African continent and is experiencing exceptional annual growth.

This forum, which is intended for French firms looking for new markets, brought together at the French Agency for International Business Development (UBIFRANCE) around 30 Ethiopian firms and contractors and almost 150 French firms, notably SMEs and intermediate-sized enterprises.
