Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will tomorrow receive his Norwegian counterpart, Borge Brende.

Mr. Fabius and Mr. Brende will discuss the international negotiations ahead of the Paris Climate Conference – COP21. Norway, which is deeply committed to the fight against climate disruption, is an important partner in preparing for this conference. The two ministers jointly opened the conference on the Arctic and climate in Paris on March 17 in order to highlight the urgent need to take action to limit global warming to less than 2 ℃ or 1.5 ℃.

They will also discuss key international issues, including the situation in Ukraine and the crises in the Middle East, as well as the economic situation in Europe and the migration issues.

They will also work on strengthening our bilateral relations, notably in the economic sphere.

Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will tomorrow receive his Lithuanian counterpart, Linas Antanas Linkevicius.

The ministers will discuss key European and international issues: migration, preparations for COP21, the situation in Ukraine and European defense in the run-up to the European Council meeting from June 25 to 26.

Mr. Fabius and Mr. Linkevicius will also work on strengthening our bilateral relations, especially in the areas of trade and security and defense cooperation.

South Sudan - Expulsion of the deputy special representative of the UN Mission in South Sudan and humanitarian coordinator (June 2, 2015)

France condemns the decision by the authorities of South Sudan to expel Toby Lanzer, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and UN Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan.

While the humanitarian situation is continuing to deteriorate, France calls on the authorities of South Sudan to reverse their decision and to fully cooperate with UNMISS and the United Nations as a whole.

The parties to the conflict bear responsibility for swiftly resuming the peace process under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union. France reaffirms that it is prepared to immediately adopt at the Security Council an arms embargo as well as targeted sanctions against those who pose a threat to peace, security and stability in South Sudan.

China - Sinking of a ship on the Yangtze River (June 1, 2015)

We were extremely shocked to learn of the sinking of a ship on the Yangtze River on June 1.

France extends its condolences to the victims' families. Our thoughts are also with the families of the hundreds of people who are missing.

In these tragic circumstances, France assures the Chinese authorities and people of its solidarity.
