Germany - Harlem Désir’s participation in the conference on French-German cross-border cooperation (Metz, July 6 to 7, 2015)

Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European Affairs and his German counterpart, Michael Roth, Secretaries-General for French-German cooperation, took the initiative to hold a conference on cross-border cooperation between our two countries on July 6 and 7 in Metz.

Two years after the conference in Saarbrücken in July 2013, the conference in Metz will provide an opportunity to bring together a large number of locally elected officials and civil society actors. It will provide an opportunity to adopt a new common agenda for cross-border cooperation, which will cover all major issues affecting the daily lives of our fellow citizens living in border regions, including in particular mobility, training and employment.

French-German cross-border cooperation is exemplary in terms of the volume and variety of initiatives and serves as a true test bed for European integration.

The Comoros - 40th anniversary of independence (July 6, 2015)

On the occasion of the national day and the 40th anniversary of the independence of the Comoros, France congratulates the Comorian authorities and people.

France and the Comoros enjoy very close and long-standing relations. Our two countries are neighbors in the Indian Ocean, where France has more than a million citizens, and are also linked together as a result of the large Comorian diaspora in France. We have formed a close partnership within the Indian Ocean Commission. It was in this context that President Hollande visited Moroni in August 2014.

France would like to continue the ongoing dialogue with the Comoros and work with it to ensure the success of COP21.
