Climate – Second informal ministerial consultation meetings in Paris (September 6 and 7, 2015)

Laurent Fabius, future COP21 President, will host the second informal ministerial consultation meetings on September 6 and 7 in order to prepare for the Paris Climate Conference.

Laurent Fabius decided to host informal consultations in order to support, at the political level, the process of negotiating the main topics under discussion. The first consultations took place on July 20 and 21 and provided an opportunity to discuss the overall balance of the agreement, its level of ambition and the degree of differentiation that should be retained in order to take the situations and levels of development of the various UN member states into account.

The goal of the consultations on September 6 and 7, which will bring together around 60 delegations including around 40 ministers, will be to focus on the key issues in the negotiations, namely:

  • the means of implementing the agreement: financing, transfer of technology and capacity building;
  • adaptation to climate disruption and the issue of loss and damage.

Cameroon – Attacks (September 3, 2015)

France condemns the two suicide attacks perpetrated on September 3 in Kerawa which killed several dozen people and injured more than 150 others. This region in northern Cameroon has already been hard hit by terrorism.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims' families and reaffirm our wholehearted solidarity with the Cameroonian authorities and people.

France stands alongside Cameroon and the states engaged in the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region.
