Libya – Executions carried out by Daesh in Surt and Derna (October 2015)

France condemns the executions of civilians carried out by Daesh terrorists in the Surt and Derna regions that have been made public over the last few days.

In the face of such barbarity, France stands alongside the Libyan people. The international community stands ready to support the future Libyan government in its fight against terrorism.

The advance of the terrorist organization Daesh reaffirms the urgent need to resolve the crisis in Libya. There's no more time to lose. All Libyan parties must approve the agreement put forward by the United Nations and form, as swiftly as possible, a national unity government, the only way to restore security and stability.

Climate / Civil society – Hosting of the TEDx "Climate of change" event (Paris, October 21, 2015)

On the initiative of Laurent Fabius, COP21 President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development will host on October 21 a civil society sponsored event entitled "Climate of change?" organized by TEDxParis. The TEDx conferences aim to increase awareness of the most innovative ideas by making them available to the public on the Internet.

The Quai d'Orsay is the first government department to be a partner in such an initiative and has chosen to give a voice to all citizens; they will be able to freely express their views. With less than 50 days left until COP21, civil society must be involved in the mobilization in support of the Paris Climate Conference.

This unprecedented event has the support of the European Commission within the framework of the European Year for Development.

The event will take place from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Ministerial Conference Center (27 rue de la Convention, 75015 Paris). It will be open to the press and can be followed on social media: #changement#TEDxParis. Video footage of the speeches will be available online on the TEDxParis website: www.tedxparis.com and on the France Diplomatie website: www.diplomatie.gouv.fr.
