Ms. Annick Girardin, Minister of State for Development and Francophony, will today, February 4, participate in the launch of the self-sufficiency and family farming fund.

This innovative fund is at this stage being co-financed by two major agri-food companies. It expects to invest €120 million over the next 10 years in projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America, with the aim of helping 200,000 family farms and 2 million people to ensure the sustainability of their farming practices.

On this occasion Ms. Annick Girardin will reaffirm that family farming is a pillar of development and the fight against poverty. Since family farming makes efficient use of natural resources and protects the environment it offers a promising way forward for the future.
