United Nations – Meeting between Mr. Laurent Fabius, Mr. Ban Ki-moon and the UN agency heads (Paris, April 30, 2015)

Mr. Laurent Fabius will receive Mr. Ban Ki-moon and the UN executive agency heads on April 30 at the Quai d'Orsay, in the presence of French business representatives.

This meeting will provide an opportunity to work toward ensuring the success of COP21, which Laurent Fabius will chair. The discussions will focus on key international issues. The challenges related to UN market access faced by French businesses and SMEs will also be discussed.

Mr. Ban Ki-moon and all of the 37 leaders of the UN specialized agencies, funds and programs will meet in Paris on April 29 and 30 within the framework of the UN Chief Executives Board. The meetings of the Chief Executives Board alternate between New York at the end of the year and one of the capitals where the headquarters of the UN agencies are located in the spring. The meeting will notably be attended by Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Antonio Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Helen Clark, Administrator of the UN Development Program, José Graziano da Silva, Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization, and Anthony Lake, Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund. Mr. Ban Ki-moon and the agency heads will be received on this occasion by President Hollande.  

 


Niger – Attack by Boko Haram (April 27, 2015)

France strongly condemns the attack perpetrated in Niger by Boko Haram on the island of Karamga (along the shores of Lake Chad).  

We extend our condolences to the victims’ families.

France assures Niger of its solidarity and calls on the international community to continue to mobilize its efforts in the fight against Boko Haram.
