Crisis management – National Humanitarian Conference (Paris - February 23, 2016)

The Crisis and Support Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development hosted its third National Humanitarian Conference today. It concluded with a speech by André Vallini, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie.

This gathering enabled representatives from the government and from all public and private humanitarian groups (international institutions, NGOs, businesses) to take stock of the largest humanitarian challenges. Ahead of the World Humanitarian Summit to be held in Istanbul this May, discussions dealt with the role of international humanitarian actors during and after crises.

Throughout the day, discussions could be followed live on Twitter using the hashtag #CNH2016.

Israel / Palestinian Territories – Dismantling of humanitarian projects (February 21, 2016)

France condemns the Israeli army’s dismantling of an elementary school being built with French humanitarian assistance during the night of February 20-21.

This is a project located in an area identified by the EU as vital to the viability of the two-state solution.

We deplore the consequences of demolitions and confiscations of humanitarian structures in the West Bank that affect particularly vulnerable populations, and call on the Israeli authorities to end it.
