Tunisia – Commemoration of the Bardo Museum attack

Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, is currently in Tunis to attend the ceremony organized by the Tunisian Ministry of Culture to mark the first anniversary of the attack against the Bardo Museum.

In Paris, the secretary-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development took part in a tribute at the Place de la République organized by the association to protect and honor the memory of the victims of the attack against the Bardo Museum in Tunis. He laid a wreath there in order to express our solidarity with the victims' families.

Francophonie – Visit by Jean-Marc Ayrault to Nantes (March 20, 2016)

On the occasion of International Francophonie Day on March 20, Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and Michaëlle Jean, Secretary-General of the International Organization of la Francophonie, will visit Nantes for a series of cultural events involving the French-speaking community, including concerts performed by French-speaking artists.

Jean-Marc Ayrault and Michaëlle Jean will visit, together with Johanna Rollan, Mayor of Nantes, the memorial to the abolition of slavery.

Japan – Meeting between Jean-Marc Ayrault and his counterpart (Paris - March 20, 2016)

Jean-Marc Ayrault will meet with Fumio Kishida, his Japanese counterpart, during a working dinner on March 20 at the Quai d'Orsay.

The two ministers will discuss the dynamic relations between our two countries, notably in the context of the 2015-2016 French-Japanese Year of Innovation.

In the run-up to the G7 Foreign Ministers Meeting due to take place in Hiroshima on April 10 and 11, they will also take stock of the major international and regional issues, including the disturbing provocations by North Korea, the fight against terrorism and the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Humanitarian action – André Vallini attending the International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference & Exhibition (Dubai - March 21, 2016)

On March 21, André Vallini, minister of state for development and Francophonie, will lead a delegation to the International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference & Exhibition in Dubai, which will bring together a number of participants.

In addition to Mr. Vallini, the French delegation will include 26 people involved in humanitarian work (NGOs, foundations, companies).

The theme of this year's event is innovation in the service of humanitarian aid. The French pavilion will showcase innovative solutions to the needs of humanitarian relief efforts and crisis management (housing, water, sanitation, air conditioning, storage of liquids, lighting, transportation, health).

North Korea

Reports indicate that North Korea has fired two medium-range ballistic missiles. If true, this is another serious violation of North Korea's international obligations.

We demand that North Korea immediately halt its destabilizing actions and provocations. It must immediately abide by UN Security Council resolutions and refrain from any activities connected to its ballistic missile program.

Niger – Terrorist attacks (March 17, 2016)

France condemns the attacks carried out in the towns of Dolbèl and Bosso on March 17 that killed four members of the Nigerien defense and security forces.

We offer our condolences to the victims' families and to the Nigerien authorities.

France assures Niger of its solidarity in the fight against terrorism.
