Germany – Visit by Jean-Marc Ayrault to Berlin (May 11, 2016)

Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will visit Berlin today in order to take part in a meeting in the Normandy format with his German, Russian and Ukrainian counterparts.

He will also meet with Norbert Lammert, President of the Bundestag, to discuss major current European and international issues.

Jean-Marc Ayrault will also take part, together with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in the ceremony at the Bundestag to present the Otto-Wels Prize for Democracy awarded by the SPD parliamentary group to three young winners who focused their efforts on Europe and its future. On this occasion, he will deliver a speech on Europe.



Cuba – Meeting between Matthias Fekl and Rodrigo Malmierca (Paris - May 11, 2016)

Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, will today receive Rodrigo Malmierca, Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, and Cooperation.

Following President Hollande's official visit to Cuba a year ago and Raul Castro's state visit in February 2016, Mr. Fekl and Mr. Malmierca will take stock of the development of our trade and of investment by French companies in Cuba.



European Union / Local authorities – General Assembly of the European Association for Local Democracy (May 12, 2016)

For the first time since it was established in 1999, the General Assembly of the European Association for Local Democracy (ALDA) will take place in France on May 12, 2016, at the Ministerial Conference Center in Paris, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development.

A large number of representatives from local and regional authorities as well as civil society from France, the EU, the Balkans and European Neighborhood countries will take part in the general assembly, during which two workshops will be held in collaboration with the UN Development Program and the French Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions on development education and ownership of sustainable development goals by local and regional authorities.

Various events—notably focusing on the European Year for Development and Local Governance and the launch of the program for decentralized cooperation between France and the Balkans—will be open to the public.



Turkey – Attack in Diyarbakir (May 10, 2016)

France condemns the car bomb attack against a police vehicle in Diyarbakir on May 10, 2016.

We extend our condolences to the victims' families.

France stands alongside Turkey in the fight against terrorism.
