European Union – Harlem Désir at the General Affairs Council (Brussels - September 20, 2016)

Minister of State for European Affairs Harlem Désir is attending today's meeting of the General Affairs Council.

Discussions will deal with preparations for the European Council on October 20-21, the Commission's agenda for 2017, and revisions in the EU's multi-annual financial framework.

Mr. Désir will reiterate France's priorities, in the aftermath of the Bratislava summit, with respect to refocusing Europe on security and defense challenges, growth, jobs, and young people.

European Union – Awarding of European education prizes (Brussels - September 20, 2016)

On September 20, Minister of State for European affairs Harlem Désir is joining his German and Polish counterparts, Michael Roth and Konrad Szymańsk, in handing out Young Europeans awards to French, German, Polish and Ukrainian students aged 14 to 16.

Established in 2015, this contest aims to raise awareness of European issues among young people under 21, and is organized by the Fondation Hippocrène. Each year, a non-EU guest country is invited with a view to fostering communication among young people; this year's guest is Ukraine.

Tourism – Inauguration of IFTM Top Resa show by Matthias Fekl (Paris - September 20, 2016)

Matthias Fekl, minister of state for foreign trade, the promotion of tourism, and French nationals abroad, will inaugurate IFTM Top Resa today—a major international trade show devoted to the tourism industry.

Running from September 20-23, it features more than 50 conferences, 69 workshops and training sessions focusing on every aspect of tourism—business, special events, pleasure, etc.

This 38th edition showcases the French and global tourism market at a single venue. There is a special focus on wine tourism this year, with a pavilion staffed by four exhibitors (Caves du Louvre, Rémy Martin, Source de Velleminfroy and Tourisme en Champagne).

In 2015, IFTM Top Resa welcomed more than 32,000 professionals.
