France welcomes the fact that the Colombian government and the FARC have been able to reach a new peace agreement, following the consultative referendum in which voters rejected a previous version.

It commends the efforts of all parties to achieve this result, which restores hope for achieving lasting peace for the benefit of all Colombians.

France will stand alongside President Santos, the government and the Colombian people in order to help make this prospect a reality.

Afghanistan/ Attack – Reminder of the statement issued by the spokesperson (November 10, 2016)

France utterly condemns the attack targeted against the German Consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan which left 7 people dead and 128 people injured according to provisional reports.

It extends its condolences to the victims' families and friends and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.

France stands in complete solidarity with Germany and stands alongside Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism.

Syria / Use of chemical weapons / Condemnation by the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) – Reminder of the statement issued by the spokesperson (November 11, 2016)

France welcomes the adoption on November 11 by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) of a decision regarding the reports by the Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM). These reports, which were published on August 24 and October 27, 2016, establish the responsibility of the Syrian regime and Daesh regarding the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

The OPCW's decision condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime in three locations in 2014 and 2015, in complete violation of its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). It reaffirms that the perpetrators of these attacks must be held accountable. It imposes a strengthened verification regime which includes new on-site inspections.

France believes that it is now up to the UN Security Council to follow up on these reports. It is working on this in New York together with its partners.

Afghanistan / Attack against the NATO base in Bagram – Reminder of the statement issued by the spokesperson (November 12, 2016)

France utterly condemns the attack perpetrated this morning against the NATO air base in Bagram, Afghanistan.

It extends its condolences to the victims' families and friends and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.

France reaffirms its support for the U.S. and Polish governments, whose nationals were hit in this attack. It stands in solidarity with all those who are fighting against terrorism in Afghanistan.

Pakistan / Attack – Reminder of the statement issued by the spokesperson (November 12, 2016)

France extends its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the explosion that took place in Pakistan today in Baluchistan Province which killed more than 40 people according to provisional reports.

It strongly condemns all acts of terrorism and stands alongside the Pakistani people and authorities in their fight against this indiscriminate barbarity.

Romania – Bilateral strategic dialogue (Brussels - November 14, 2016)

On the sidelines of the Foreign Affairs Council due to take place on November 14 in Brussels, Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister of Defense, will meet with their Romanian counterparts, Lazar Comanescu and Mihnea Motoc, within the framework of the French-Romanian bilateral strategic dialogue.

This meeting follows on from the state visit by President Hollande to Romania on September 12 and 13.

The ministers will notably discuss our cooperation in the area of security and defense, at the bilateral level as well as within the framework of the NATO-EU Common Security and Defense Policy.

Germany – Meeting between Harlem Désir and his counterpart (Paris - November 14, 2016)

Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European Affairs, will receive his German counterpart, Michael Roth, today.

They will discuss key current international and European issues, notably the EU's relations with the United States, developments in the political situation in Turkey and the revitalization of the European project in the run-up to the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.

Since they also serve as secretaries-general for French-German cooperation, they will also take stock of the main bilateral projects.

Democratic Republic of Congo – Media situation

We are concerned about the publication by the authorities of the Democratic Republic of Congo of a new ministerial order relating to foreign media.

This decision constitutes further cause for concern following the cutting of the signals of Radio Okapi and RFI on November 5 and the arrest of two journalists in Kolwezi on November 6.

France reiterates its appeal to the Congolese authorities to respect the freedom of the press and the right to information.

New Zealand – Earthquake (November 13-14, 2016)

We extend our condolences to the victims' families as well as to the New Zealand authorities following the earthquake that struck the region of Christchurch, which had already been affected by a tragic earthquake in 2011.

We wish the injured a speedy recovery.

The Embassy of France in Wellington is mobilized to provide the necessary support to our compatriots in New Zealand.

France condemns yesterday's attack near a church in Kalimantan province that killed a young child and left several injured.

We offer our condolences to the victim's family and wish those injured a speedy recovery. We express our solidarity with Indonesia at this sad time.

Iraq – Visit to Qaraqosh by France's consul-general in Erbil (November 13, 2016)

On November 13, the French consul-general in Erbil traveled to the town of Qaraqosh, freed by Iraqi and Peshmerga forces, where he was received by the Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul and Qaraqosh.

The towns of Qaraqosh, Karemlash and Bartella, which he visited, were ravaged by fighting and by the atrocities committed by Daesh.

This visit reflects our country's solidarity with the residents of those towns, who were forced to flee two years ago.

Cape Verde – Introduction of a new stamp: "Cesaria Evora and the Bataclan" (November 16, 2016)

On November 16, the French Embassy in Cape Verde and the Cape Verde Postal Service in Praia will introduce a stamp called "Cesaria Evora and the Bataclan."

This stamp will commemorate the Cape Verdean singer's concert at the Bataclan in March 1995, as well as the tragic events that plunged France into mourning on November 13, 2015.

This project is a joint tribute by Cape Verde and France to the victims of the attacks of November 13, 2015, and to the Cape Verdean singer who died five years ago.
