Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and Marco Impagliazzo, President of the Community of Sant'Egidio, signed a Protocol on Cooperation at the Quai d'Orsay on April 18.

This document formalizes longstanding collaboration in various areas of focus: interfaith dialogue, conflict prevention and mediation, charitable initiatives, notably in support of refugees in the Middle East. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development and the Community of Sant'Egidio notably worked together to promote reconciliation in the Central African Republic and to provide humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees.

Democratic Republic of Congo – Murder of Dr. Gildo Byamungu (April 14, 2017)

France condemns the murder of Dr. Gildo Byamungu on April 14. It calls for full light to be shed on this murder in order to bring the perpetrators to justice.

This doctor worked alongside Dr. Denis Mukwege at his hospital in Bukavu, which provides medical care and psychological support to women who have suffered sexual violence. It is with sadness that we pay tribute to his memory.
