Germany – Visit by Nathalie Loiseau (Berlin - July 11, 2017)

Minister for European affairs Nathalie Loiseau is visiting Berlin today to discuss the re-start of the European project with her German counterpart Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth.

The two ministers, both of whom are secretaries-general for Franco-German cooperation, will review bilateral cooperation and preparations for the Franco-German Council of Ministers meeting in Paris on July 13.

They will also work on preparations for the first meeting of the Franco-German Integration Council established at the Franco-German Council of Ministers in 2016, which they will co-chair with the interior ministers, and whose purpose is to deal with this issue that is so vital to our societies from a Franco-German perspective.

India – Attack on pilgrims (July 10, 2017)

France condemns the attack on July 10 that took the lives of several pilgrims who were on their way to the Amarnath shrine.

We offer our condolences to the victims' families and wish the injured a speedy recovery.

France assures the Indian people and authorities of its solidarity in the face of terrorism. During their meeting in Paris on June 3, President Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi noted that counterterrorism is one of the priorities of our strategic partnership.

Tourism – Ariane and travel advisory

During this vacation period when many French people travel abroad, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs reminds our compatriots of two tools that are especially helpful for preparing and enjoying smooth stays abroad: the travel advisory and the Ariane service.

Available at www.diplomatie.gouv.fr and via smartphones, the travel advisory contains information and recommendations on safety, health, and the practical aspects of travel abroad. Developed by the Ministry's crisis and support center, this advisory has received ISO 9001 certification, which attests to its quality, reliability, and regular updates. This certification was renewed at the end of June for the next three months, following an audit by the independent body AFNOR.

Ariane is a free service that allows our compatriots to register their trip with the Ministry and to receive reliable information in their destination countries during their stay, whatever the country. Designed in concert with the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés, Ariane fully guarantees the security and confidentiality of personal data.

UNESCO – Addition of two new French sites to the World Heritage list (July 9, 2017)

France welcomes the unanimous decision to add two new sites—Taputapuātea and Strasbourg, Grande-Île et Neustadt—to the World Heritage list during the 41st session of the World Heritage Committee held in Krakow from July 2 to 12. A political, ceremonial, funerary. and religious center, Taputapuātea is an exceptionally sacred landscape in French Polynesia on the island of Ra'iatea. It illustrates the expansion of Polynesian peoples throughout the Pacific, their organization, and their spiritual and cosmological relationship with nature and space.

An addition to a site listed in1988, Strasbourg, Grande-Île et Neustadt is an urban complex typical of the Rhineland, centered around the Cathedral in a region that symbolizes French-German reconciliation.

These two new additions bring to 43 the number of French inscriptions on UNESCO's World Heritage list.
