Bangladesh – Meeting between Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne and Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh (October 21, 2019)

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, met this morning with Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, during his visit to France today and tomorrow.

This is the first high-level Bangladeshi visit to France since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit in December 2017.

This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss French-Bangladeshi trade relations, the situation of the Rohingya as well as climate change issues. It also provided an opportunity for a positive discussion on multilateral issues and the Indo-Pacific region, a few hours ahead of President Macron's departure for Mayotte and Réunion.

Minister Abul Kamal Abdul Momen underscored to the minister of state the attractiveness of Bangladesh for French firms. In this context, Minister Abul Kamal Abdul Momen will take part today in a France-Bangladesh economic forum organized by the Senate. Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne is scheduled to visit Bangladesh in spring 2020, accompanied by a delegation of French businesses.

Afghanistan – Mosque attack (October 18, 2019)

France utterly condemns the terrorist attack carried out on Friday in a mosque in Nangarhar Province, which killed and injured scores of people.

France extends its condolences to the victims' families as well as to the Afghan government and people.

France will continue to support Afghanistan and reiterates its call for an inclusive peace process that will lead to lasting peace.

Situation of Ruhollah Zam

One week after the announcement that Iranian activist Ruhollah Zam had been arrested in Iraq, do you know under what circumstances he was arrested? Was he extradited by the Iraqis or abducted by the Revolutionary Guards in Iraq? Are you discussing this matter with the Iraqi authorities?

Please refer to our previous statements regarding this matter.
