Foreign trade – 21st annual colloquium of the Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables (Paris - February 6, 2020)

Yesterday, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian attended the 21st annual colloquium of the French renewable energy association SER, which brought together French companies, government representatives, and representatives of foreign countries, European institutions and international organizations such as the International Energy Agency.

The minister reiterated the challenges and stakes of developing renewable energies on a global scale to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. He underscored France's commitment to climate and environmental action on the European and international levels, especially in the area of renewables.

The minister highlighted the role played by businesses in this process and presented developments in the system of public support for the internationalization of companies to enhance the value of French products and skills in a priority sector whose global market is expected to grow more than 40% by 2021, and in which investments reached $332 billion in 2018. The expertise of French businesses with regard to renewables is well known, both on the technological level and in training and capacity building, and in providing responses tailored to the most specific geographic situations.

On November 4 of last year, the minister appointed Jean-Louis Bal as chairman of the SER, an umbrella group fostering the export of renewable energies, in order to structure and promote French products on priority markets abroad.
