Mali – Attack against MINUSMA (May 10, 2020)

France utterly condemns the attack against the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) in Aguelhok in the Kidal region in northern Mali on May 10, which killed three Chadian peacekeepers and injured several others within the mission.

France extends its condolences to the families of the soldiers who died as well as to the Chadian authorities. It wishes the injured peacekeepers a speedy recovery.

France reaffirms its support for the authorities of the Sahel countries in their fight against terrorism as well as for MINUSMA, which plays a key role in Mali's stabilization.

The perpetrators of this attack must be identified and brought to justice.

The Algerian press is reporting that France has provided €400,000 in aid to Sahrawi refugees in the camps in Tindouf in Algeria through the World Food Program.

Can you confirm this aid? If so, has the aid been distributed and in what form?

France supports the WFP's activities in 24 countries, within the framework of its voluntary contributions to the agency, notably in support of the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS), as well as through its programmed food assistance. France contributes, within this framework, to the WFP's humanitarian activities in Tindouf in support of school feeding programs.
