Bahrain – Normalization of relations with Israel

France welcomes the announcement of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Israel.

The new momentum reflected by this announcement must contribute to regional peace and stability. For that to happen, the suspension of the annexation of Palestinian territories must become permanent and direct negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians must resume with a view to establishing two viable states in accordance with international law and the agreed-upon parameters.

In Lebanon on September 1, President Macron announced that he hoped to see the formation of a government in Lebanon "within two weeks." Would France accept a delay in this deadline?

As the President and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs have stressed repeatedly, the priority for Lebanon must be the swift formation of a mission-driven government that can implement the reforms that are essential to that country's recovery.

All Lebanese political forces have embraced this goal. It is up to them to transform this commitment into action without delay. It is their responsibility, as the President said during his visit, and as we continue to remind the Lebanese authorities.
