Qatar

Is it true that a French citizen was forced to undergo a gynecological examination at Doha Airport?

If so, have you been in touch with her? Do you intend to respond to the Qatari authorities?

To our knowledge, no French citizen has been subjected to such a forced examination. A French citizen in transit to Sydney was among those concerned by Qatar's investigation. Our consulate in Sydney has been in contact with our compatriot and is monitoring her situation.

Turkey

Is the Turkish government's response to the most recent cover of Charlie Hebdo magazine likely to keep French Ambassador Hervé Magro in France?

The ambassador of France to Turkey was recalled to Paris on October 25 for consultations. The date of his return to Turkey is yet to be determined.

Lebanon – Israel

Have the bilateral talks between Lebanon and Israel been approved or aided by French diplomacy? The navigation charts come to mind.

The launch of discussions between Lebanon and Israel on the delimitation of maritime boundaries between the two countries, under UN auspices and facilitated by the United States, is a major development which we encourage. France supports all efforts that may contribute to regional stability.

Guinea

The Guinean election held on October 18 has been criticized for irregularities. What is France's position?

France took note of the Independent National Election Commission's announcement of the provisional results of the first round of the presidential election in Guinea on October 24. France, which had already expressed its concern over the non-consensual nature of the electoral slate, shares the doubts expressed by the EU with respect to the credibility of the results, which will have to be released in a transparent manner as part of an inclusive dialogue and in keeping with the law.

France strongly condemns the violence that has taken place in the country since the vote. It calls for independent investigations to obtain justice for the victims. It urges all Guinean actors to behave responsibly and exercise the utmost restraint.

France underscores the importance of guaranteeing the freedoms of movement and expression to all political figures and the importance of allowing unfettered access to the means of communication.

Together with its European partners, France encourages and supports initiatives that will be undertaken by Guinea's regional and international partners to promote a dialogue between the parties and swiftly ease tensions.
