Visit of Prime Minister François Fillon to the United States, March 22-24, 2009

François Fillon began a visit to the United States on Sunday, March 22, by having private meetings with American business leaders in New York.
He went then to Washington to meet with Vice-President Joe Biden ten days before the G20 Summit in London.

They reviewed "current issues in diplomacy", including Iran, Afghanistan, and the NATO Summit, in which France will fully participate. Before his meeting with Joe Biden, François Fillon had lunch with Larry Summers, the Economic Adviser to President Barack Obama. He also met with Barney Franck, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.

Prime Minister François Fillon who was accompagnied by the Finance Minister Mrs Christine Lagarde, gave a conference on the "French view of the crisis response", at the invitation of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, one of the most important think tanks in America.
