President Sarkozy fine after heat-related malaise
Paris, July 27, 2009
The cardiological monitoring of President Sarkozy ended this morning. A coronarography was carried out early this morning. The monitoring and complementary examinations show that the malaise had no cardiological cause or consequences. No irregular heartbeat was detected.
The absence of any neurological or metabolic causes or consequences is also confirmed (blood tests, an EEG and MRI scan).
The diagnosis is thus that of a vasovagal malaise caused by sustained effort in very hot weather, without loss of consciousness, in a context of fatigue linked to a heavy workload.
No medical treatment has been prescribed. He has been advised not to overdo things for a few days. In these circumstances, tomorrow’s scheduled visit to Mont Saint-Michel has been postponed.
The Head of State will leave hospital at the end of the morning. As planned, he will chair Wednesday morning’s Council of Ministers’ meeting./.
