Paris, February 10, 2010

On February 11, 1990, the entire world was moved by the release of Nelson Mandela. Rooted in the quest for liberty and human rights, his work has since inspired Africa and the entire world.

A visionary statesman, a fervent champion of freedom, Nelson Mandela is also an eternal citizen and servant of Africa, motivated by a duty to humanity.

Whenever I met him, I found him to be a generous, passionate man.

Guided by his convictions, he has become the symbol of the reconciliation policy that enabled the South African people to learn to live together.
