Russia/terrorist attacks in Moscow

Statement by Bernard Kouchner, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs

Paris, March 29, 2010

I was extremely shocked to learn of this morning’s double bombing which has just hit Moscow, in two of the Russian capital’s underground stations, and killed dozens of people and injured very many others.

I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved and families of the injured.

France utterly condemns these terrorist attacks and assures Russia of her total solidarity in this tragic ordeal.

We want no stone left unturned so that the perpetrators of such barbaric acts are arrested and brought to answer for their actions before the courts.

I shall have the opportunity to express my support in person when I see my Russian counterpart at the G8 meeting in Gatineau in Canada./.
