France/Nigeria
Paris, May 6, 2010
Dear President Jonathan,
I want to express to you my most sincere condolences on the death of President Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and ask you to share with his family and all Nigerians my feelings of sympathy and those of the French people.
In these sad circumstances, I remember with emotion President Yar’Adua’s visit to Paris on 12 June 2008, and our discussions, which led us to conclude a strategic partnership with your great country and give new impetus to both our economic relations and cooperation in the effort to bring peace and security to Africa and the world.
I want to assure you of my determination to continue along this path.
I hope that our forthcoming meeting, at the France-Africa summit in Nice, will consolidate our relations with your country, a key player on the African continent.
(complimentary close, with handwritten addition)./.
