Niger/Release of French hostages

President Sarkozy is delighted by the release of our compatriot, Françoise Larribe, of Jean-Claude Rakotorilalao and of Alex Awando, who were kidnapped on September 16 in Arlit, Niger. They are all in good health.

They were released on February 24 in the evening.

President Sarkozy shares the families’ joy and thanks the Nigerien authorities as well as those who participated in this release, in particular the companies Areva and Vinci-Satom.

Four other French nationals are still being held in the Sahel region, as well as two in Afghanistan and one in Somalia. President Sarkozy reaffirms his support for their families and reiterates his determination and that of the French authorities to work towards securing their release.
